Blog Discussion Board > Ipilimumab and FDA approval

I was reading the text under the heading of Investigational Agents regarding Ipilimumab possible being approved by the FDA soon. Too, I noted this website page at (N. CA. Melanoma Center) has not been updated since 2007.

My question is this, have we gotten any closer to FDA approval and what are your thoughts about this protocol as a second line treatment after IL2, INF and Temodar.

Thanks Patty

Dear Patty:
To my knowledge, the Company, Bristol Myers Squibb, has not made any announcements regarding a submission to the FDA for marketing approval of Ipilimumab. I believe it would be a reasonable second line treatment after Il2, Interferon, and Temodar and have submitted a protocol to the Company for such a study. They approved the study, but it hasn't opened yet - and I don't know of any other trials currently open using Ipilimumab as second line therapy for melanoma.
Cordially,

Dr Spitler; I have recently been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. I have been treated with IL2 and will begin temador treatment within the next couple weeks. I would be very interested in your proposed study with ipilimumab. Please let me know if/when it becomes available. Thanks.
Mike
